My hairdresser, Breana, from The Studio- Hair By Bre located in Paris, Texas, introduced me to this show! She told me that it was weird, but after the first episode she couldn’t stop watching it, and well, the same happened to me!
“The Handmaid’s Tale,” based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, tells a story of June also known as Offred, a handmaid in a dystopian society of Gilead. Although the book varies in details from the series on Hulu, the concept is the same.
The series is a world where violence against women is constant. It’s ugly, and it has a sense of truth about it. I find this show interesting because most of the violence enacted on women is by women. Watching June, the main character in the series go through everything that she goes through, yet still tries to take a stand against the violence in Gilead, makes me wonder, “Why am I sitting on the couch? I need to get up and change the world.”
With that being said, it’s worth buying a subscription to Hulu and watching it!
You can even check out Hulu for 2 weeks free, on me! Plans start at $7.99 after 1st 2 weeks. Terms apply. https://mbsy.co/nfbDh
